Soave is one of the first Italian wines to be recognized us “typical and fine” , as early as 1931. Bertani Soave represented the image of this wine in the world. Bertani Soave was served at the coronation luncheon of George VI, King of the British Empire, in 1937, "Soave fit for a KING". Trilussa even coined two verses in its honor: "When I drink the Soave of Bertani, I think neither of yesterday nor of the morrow". The image of the Bertani Soave bottle was so famous that for many years it became the company's symbol-the "long neck" (Berty). For many years, Soave was one of the top quality products in the worldwide production of white wines, and consequently, one of the best-selling and most consumed Italian wines in the world. Over the years, its success has led to an increase in production and to its reinterpretation according to more "mainstream" parameters. In the lastfew years, and especially thanks to small producers, an interpretation tied to a soft, full-bodied style was born, close to modern quality standards, which brought Soave into the spotling on prestigious tables from which it had been left out for a long time. According to its philosophy, Bertani has stayed true to its production standards, seeking to modernize them year after year by researching new technological solutions. With the Soave Vintage, we would like to bring back the traditional style tied mainly to exalting the organoleptic characteristics of vinification with Garganega according to techniques that extracted substance from the skins as well, as is done with red wines, thus bringing out the aromaticity and natural "delicacy" of the Garganega. The outcome in an extraordinarily modern remake of the original Soave, with a slightly brighter color a fresh, crisp wine. Fine and elegant, with aromatic notes not only of exotic fruit but also of plants like sage and mint. Vintage: is an attribute that defines the quality and the value of something produced before the present time. Vintage items are defined as objects of worship for various reasons including the higher qualities with which they were produced, if compared to other products before or after the same artifact, or for reasons associated with culture or custom.
The vines are cultivated using "pergola Veronese" training system with a density of 3000 vines per hectare and have an average age of 40 years.
Area of production:
"Soave Vintage" grapes come from the hillside vineyards, with a sunny southern exposure. They are located in the western part of the "classic" appellation area, near Costeggiola village, in the commune of Soave. The soils are very complex: limestone and clayey texture. Temperature range is relevant, due to the natural "step" of this hill.
A portion of the grapes, approximately 40%, are picked in the third week of September; for crushing and traditional fermentation "in white" to 14°C.
The rest of the grapes are picked in late October, after a careful selection of grapes. Pressing and fermentation "in red" with the skins, at a controlled temperature of 20°C, for a period of 15 days. At the end of this phase the two wines are blended.
The wine is aged on the lees, at the end of the alcoholic fermentation, in concrete vats covered with glass tiles. This "historic" container allows a slow and progressive maturation, due to constant conditions, in terms of temperature and micro-oxygenation.
Color bright yellow with golden reflections. Nose very intense, complex, surprising and unique. Deep aromas of elderflower, cherry blossoms and gooseberries, make you think of something nice and new, continuing on sage and mint notes.
Peach and apricot come then, on the final, to demonstrate the complexity of this wine, that improves over time.
In the mouth the vibrant acidity on the palate is immediately softened by intense gooseberry, peach and apricot notes, all accompained by a flavor that results in a long and persistent aftertaste.
