The Rosso di Montalcino "White Label" comes from the younger Sangiovese-grosso-vineyards (between 5 and 20 years old) of Greppo Estate. It also ages for 12 month in Slavonian oak casks and it is a wine ready to drink, young and fruity. Both wines have a quite intense ruby red colour, typical and intense perfume, they are dry, warm, tasty and lightly tannic.
Characteristics of the 2015 vintage: Warm and not rainy year with high temperatures from May to August, which allowed the vine to reach an excellent ripeness, giving perfect grapes for wines of the highest class. Harvest began on September 21st.
Origin: This wine was produced with the BBS11 clone of Sangiovese Grosso, identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at the Tenuta Greppo. For the Rosso di Montalcino grapes were used exclusively from the younger vines with less than 19 years of age.
Aging: Rosso di Montalcino is aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Organoleptic characteristics: The 2015 harvest gave great satisfaction. Even in Rosso di Montalcino you can hear the fabric of a vintage that stands out for its structure and for its very refined and intensely fruity bouquet. With a brilliant ruby red color, it offers a broad and intense bouquet with hints of violet and wisteria flowers, fresh cherries and light hints of cedar that find depth in the spicing of pink and white pepper and in the sweet notes of vanilla. In the mouth it is soft and well structured, with a fruity heart, very elegant and fine. The potential of the vintage is noted in the really important tannins that find balance with the fresh acidity, typical of Tenuta Greppo wines. Long and savory finish. A ready wine, while maintaining a good refinement capacity in the bottle.
