La Crotta di Vegneron SYRAH CREME Valle d'Aosta DOC 2016

Rouge Crème is a cuvée made with Vien de Nus, Petit Rouge e Syrah. The grapes growing on the southward facing slopes are a perfect synthesis of vine-growing area. Grape harvest takes place in the first fortnight of October and after a long maceration with the skins and a refinement sur lies for at least 12 months - 50% of this time in small wood - we obtain a unique wine with powerful, elegant notes which merge together in a fascinating balance together with ripe red fruit and spices.

Area of production: Vineyard exposure south-east, south-west in the Nus, Quart, Saint-Denis, Chambave and Châtillon municipalities 450/550 m a.s.l.
Soil type: Morainic, steep sloped, loose sandy soil
Varieties: 100% Syrah
Vine training system: Guyot
Harvest: Mid October. Oldest vineyards selected for harvest
Vinification/Ageing: In steel, at 30°C, maceration for 15 days. Ageing for 12 months: 80% in steel, 20% in barriques used for the 2nd and 3rd time and lastly 5 months in glass
Sight: Intense ruby red with tinges of violet
Smell: Intense, persistent, with scents of red fruits
Taste: Warm, full bodied, pleasantly alcoholic, great volume, excellent persistence and tannins balance
