The Rotondo area, in Barile’s Countryside, has always been one of the most suggestive and desirable sites for the growing of the Aglianico variety. There, is located the vineyard “Villa RoTondo”, belonging to the family.
Origin: Villa Rotondo vineyard located at 500 mt above sea level.
Grape Variety: Aglianico 100%.
Harvest Time: 15/20 October.
Vinification: Classical, grapes are crushed and destemmed, maceration on the skins in stainless steel for 10 days at 25/28°C, during this period several pumping overs and delestages are carried out
Finishing/ageing: End of malolactic fermentation in barriques for 14 months overall. Bottling and final ageing in the bottle for 12 months.
Tasting notes: Very intense purplish-ruby colour, rich bouquet with spices and liquorice hints, to the palate it is juicy, round odied and with raspberry and jam reminiscences. A new-style Aglianico!
Gastronomic matches: Ragoût, red meat, lamb, mature cheeses.
Serve at 16/18°C in wide red wine goblet.
