Alessandro Speri, founder and owner of this young and dynamic winery, belongs to a long and noble tradition of winemaking producers. In Italy, the family name is 'synonymous with award-winning wines and success since 1876. In the obsessive search for the perfect vineyard he has crossed the Atlantic and 'established in a small village on the slopes of the Andes, called La Consulta. In this beautiful district of Argentina, which will hear a lot about in the coming years, the air buzzing of a thousand feet high, by the grapes that will form the backbone of his most known and appreciated Cru.
Grape: Pure Malbec, single vineyard
Origin area: La Consulta - Uco Valley, Mendoza (Argentina)
Altitude: 3.400 feet (above sea level)
Harvest: Hand-picked using baskets of 35 pounds each.
Fermentation: Maceration of grapes at a low temperature of 47ºF for five days. Three weeks on its skins with daily pump-over. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrel.
Aging: Eighteen months in selected oak barrels from Allier (France). Eight months in the bottle.
Tasting notes: Very intense ruby red colour with marked violet tones. Raspberry, cassis, wild cherry, chocolate spices and vainilla, stands out on the nose. Good structure, delicate tannins with an important acidity on the mouth. Red fruits and minerals prevailed with well-balanced tannins, integrated to the oak. Complex wine with pleasant and persistent finished.
Food pairing: With the traditional argentine barbecue (selected premium meat cuts from the Pampas prepared on an open grill), empanadas and chocolate desserts with red fruits.
