Poggio al Tufo - Tommasi Estates ALICANTE Rosso Toscana IGT 2015

In 1997, the Tommasi family bought an estate in Pitgliano (province of Grosseto), giving birth to the “Project Tuscany”: POGGIO AL TUFO. The Pitigliano Estate extends for 200 hectares of land, whose 66 hectares of vineyards are cultivated on volcanic soil, rich in tuff. A few years later, the project was further expanded with the acquisition of the Doganella Estate, 24 hectares fully dedicated to organic vine-coltivation, and the Scansano Estate, 80 hectares in the heart of the DOC Morellino zone.

Vineyard: "Bottinello" vineyard, southern exposure, volcanic soil very rich in “tufo” (tuff).
Grapes: Alicante Bouschet 100%
Alcohol: 13% alc.
Maturation: 10 days fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; 12 months in Slavonian oaks 35Hl.
Tasting notes: Very intense ruby red, deep dark and purple to core. Lush texture and fine tannins with a background of flavours which come through in the mouth with cherry, blackberries, dark chocolate, pepper, cut grass and pure grape notes
