In 1997, the Tommasi family bought an estate in Pitgliano (province of Grosseto), giving birth to the “Project Tuscany”: POGGIO AL TUFO. The Pitigliano Estate extends for 200 hectares of land, whose 66 hectares of vineyards are cultivated on volcanic soil, rich in tuff. A few years later, the project was further expanded with the acquisition of the Doganella Estate, 24 hectares fully dedicated to organic vine-coltivation, and the Scansano Estate, 80 hectares in the heart of the DOC Morellino zone.
Vineyard: "Rompicollo" vineyard, South exposure, vulcanic soil very rich of “tufo” (tuff). High density 6500 vines/hectare
Grapes: Sangiovese 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40%
Alcohol: 13% alc.
Maturation: 10 days fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; 12 months maturation in Slavonian oaks 65Hl.
Tasting notes: Intense ruby red colour, intense bouquet of mature red berries fruits. Well-balanced with good structure and nice length with fruity flavours
