In 1997, the Tommasi family bought an estate in Pitgliano (province of Grosseto), giving birth to the “Project Tuscany”: POGGIO AL TUFO. The Pitigliano Estate extends for 200 hectares of land, whose 66 hectares of vineyards are cultivated on volcanic soil, rich in tuff. A few years later, the project was further expanded with the acquisition of the Doganella Estate, 24 hectares fully dedicated to organic vine-coltivation, and the Scansano Estate, 80 hectares in the heart of the DOC Morellino zone.
Vineyard: "Montebuono" vineyard, South exposure, vulcanic soil very rich of “tufo” (tuff). High density, 6.500 vines/hectare
Grapes: Vermentino 100%
Alcohol: 12,5 % alc.
Maturation: 7 days fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; 5 months maturation in stainless steel tanks
Tasting notes: Intense, fruity perfume with typical hints of this grape variety. On the palate is full, harmonic and with a long finish
Recommended with: Light appetizers, soups and fish. Great wine to serve by the glass
