Four brothers and one passion born in the parterne vineyards of San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli in the province of Verona and in the Valpolicella where the most famous Venetian wines are produced: Amarone and Valpolicella. In 1989 the choice courageous and far-sighted, to buy a property in the Garbi Mountains laid the foundations for what is now an agricultural estate known throughout the world and producer of great wine excellences, with over a hectare of cultivated land and a center for the advanced refinement. Tenuta Sant'Antonio is located in the rolling hills of the Illasi and Mezzane valleys, where the climate is mild and enjoys the benefits of Lake Garda. It is here that the varieties Corvinone, Corvina and Rondinella grow. But also Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave and Chardonnay. This is where dreams become reality and great wines. The objective of Tenuta Sant’Antonio is to create products with a greater personality going towards a more natural production. Organic and chemical fertilization has been replaced by the use of vegetable compost, obtained from the fermentation of twigs, microorganisms and civil wet waste. Total grassing is favored without the use of chemical weeding, the integration of green manure and the weeding of weeds. In the summer period the use of traditional products, such as copper and sulfur, for phytopathological defense is strongly reduced and accompanied by sexual confusion for the fight against insects. Tenuta Sant’Antonio uses selected yeasts directly from grapes of its own production, fed with organic foods and not with chemical products. Wine temperature monitoring is constant and nitrogen is used as a protective antioxidant in all work phases. In the Venetian dialect the word "scaia" means stone scale, chalk, limestone: it is a tribute to the soil where a line of young and unique wines is produced. The area is the one to the north-east of Verona, close to the historical production areas of two illustrious Veronese wines: Valpolicella and Soave. SCAIA is not just a line of wines: it is a new way of thinking about wine, in a land where tradition has great value. From the classicism of historic wines such as the Soave and the Valpolicella, the need arose to create something innovative, in a constant search for freshness, a pleasant drink and aromatic complexity.
